China Youth Daily client news (China Youth Daily, China Youth network reporter Li Yajuan trainee reporter Chen Xiao) in Chengdu Kanop Robot Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Kanop Company"), several robots are busy "show" technology. A robot "wearing" a blue Carnop cargo T-shirt shows off its flexible "spider hands" that can rotate 360 degrees on each axis of its body. Deng Shihai, deputy general manager of the company, said it can be used in a variety of collaborative scenarios, such as making coffee and making cocktails.
Another robot is polishing the wheel hub of a car, and it constantly adjusts the Angle and posture of the grinding; Some robots are showing superb riveting skills, and its "wrist" is small, and the riveting action is completed in one second...
On the morning of October 17, the "high-quality development research tour" theme interview group came to Chengdu Longtan Industrial robot industry functional area, and a smart industrial robot impressed everyone.
Zhang Mingde, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the Management Committee of the Longtan Industrial Robot Industrial functional area, told reporters that in this planning area of 11 square kilometers, there are more than 5,000 registered enterprises, including more than 60 industrial robots and upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, and the operating income of the whole region exceeds 100 billion yuan in 2022.
Canop Company is a local incubated in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, specialized new "little giant" enterprises, founded in 2012 in Chengdu Longtan College students Pioneer Park, is one of the few domestic enterprises with the whole industrial chain of industrial robots.
In 2012, Deng Shihai, a communications engineering graduate in his twenties, founded Canop with four other friends, aspiring to be "China's robot pioneer."
However, the team encountered a difficulty at the beginning of the business: they were starting from scratch to make robots, and the three core components had to be imported, and the cost of buying several parts was almost the same as buying the entire robot. So they adjusted the direction, starting from the core parts of industrial robots, and began to do the whole machine four years ago.

Welding is one of the most basic operations in the field of industrial manufacturing. Welders are known as "industrial tailors," but the job is not easy. Welding arc is extremely harsh, hot summer temperatures, welding workers also wear thick protective clothing, wearing goggles and masks, welding operations will bring hundreds of degrees of high temperature, workers need to rest every one or two hours for a while.
In this harsh working environment, welding robots have incomparable advantages. In 2019, Deng Shihai and his partners started from the subdivision of welding and launched a welding robot.
Deng Shihai said that welding robots work long hours and are emotionally stable. What's more, nowadays many young people do not want to do welding, but they are willing to learn to operate robots.
Today, industrial robots manufactured by Canop are exported to more than 20 countries and regions.
In the process of entrepreneurship, the management committee of Longtan Industrial robot Industry functional area gave them a lot of help. Deng Shihai remembers that before the new plant was built, the management committee subsidized them for three years' rent, totaling millions of yuan. Later, the management committee set up a special class to help them build factories, Deng Shihai smiled: "We don't know how to build houses, which saves us a lot of energy."
In Chengdu, the robot industry is forming an "ecosystem."
Deng Shihai believes that industrial agglomeration is very key to the development of the company, and there are more than a dozen upstream and downstream enterprises in the park. With these core supporting enterprises, communication costs are greatly reduced, and robot detection does not have to be sent thousands of miles away.
Chengdu's universities also bring a lot of intellectual resources, in addition to the scientific research achievements of teachers, these universities also cultivate a large number of young reserves. "The core research and development team of our company comes from these universities," Deng said.
For now, industrial robots continue to "find friends."
The reporter learned that the park currently has nearly 100 artificial intelligence-related enterprises. Not long ago, Innovation Qizhi, a leading domestic AI enterprise, settled in Chengdu, planning to build an industrial robot innovation center and a highly skilled talent cultivation base. In addition, the park management committee is also actively expanding the downstream market, and the "circle of friends" of industrial robots is getting larger and larger.
